HB Downtown – 1988

Well I guess it’s finally over
I knew it couldn’t last
They’re tearing the old town
From where I sit you can even hear the blast

We came here from New York
To try to find a home
A place to settle down
And never more to roam

When we got to Huntington Beach
Our journey seemed complete
A sleepy little beach town
Boy was it unique

It looked like the sixties
Had never gone away
A real relaxed attitude
We were here to stay

But then came progress
Sweeping down the line
The freeways and the condos
From them you can not hide

First it was the Golden Bear
A place of great renown
Where Dylan, Jimmy and Janice came
To play their golden sound

But that was in the sixties
A time of love and war
We thought we could change the world
But just tired of the chore

I guess its time we grew up
And faced the facts of life
Things never stay the same
Even when they’re right.
